2015 Independence Day Message

DLA Distribution

Teammates,

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence and democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American dream. Here at DLA Distribution, we come to work every day to support the warfighters and civilians who allow this to continue to be the "land of the free and the home of the brave."

This year as we gather with our family and friends to celebrate the great freedom given to us by our ancestors so many years ago, let us take the time to give thanks to those warfighters and civilians, young and old; current and from days gone by. Without these brave individuals, we would not be able to enjoy our pool parties, barbecues and fireworks.

During the signing of the Declaration of Independence on that day in 1776, John Adams, our second President of the United States, quoted, "I am well aware of the toil and blood and treasure it will cost us to maintain this declaration, and support and defend these states. Yet through all the gloom, I see the rays of ravishing light and glory." President Adams must've had a crystal ball to foresee the history this great nation would endure in the years following this momentous occasion. As a nation, we've endured a lot to protect our freedoms and as a nation we will continue to strive forward.

As we approach this 4th of July, it is a good time to reflect on the liberties we have. It is because of those past brave American patriots that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is also a chance for us to recommit ourselves to ensuring future generations maintain those rights. DLA Distribution's support to our Nation is critical. Each and every one of you are today's brave American patriots supporting our military forces and forging the way for our children, grandchildren and their families so that they too will continue to enjoy the freedoms we cherish. For that, I'm eternally grateful.

Independence Day is a great occasion in our country and is celebrated with much enthusiasm and patriotism. Please enjoy the upcoming holiday with family and friends and keep safety in mind in everything you do. Ms. Gonzales, her family, as well as Cynthia, Chandler, Charlie and I wish to thank each of you and your families for all you do to support our organization and this great Nation.

HOOAH!
