By DLA Distribution Public Affairs DLA Distribution Public Affairs

On Nov. 12, Army Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Tobin, Defense Logistics Agency headquarters’ senior enlisted advisor, paid a visit to DLA Distribution Guam, Marianas.  Tobin’s visit was the first of its kind for the distribution center.

Macy Ooka, director of DLA Distribution Guam, Marianas, set the tone for Tobin’s visit, greeting him from one islander to another by saying, “Talofa” which is “Hello” in the Samoan language.

Prior to the start of the command brief, Tobin discussed DLA director Air Force Lt. Gen. Andy Busch’s commitment to corporate culture and the importance of a leadership focus on taking care of employees.  Tobin challenged the distribution center to think outside the box and look beyond the normal, which will encourage employees to “eagerly want to come to work” each and every day.

DLA Distribution Guam then presented a command brief, and discussed the health and welfare opportunities from the Naval Hospital and Fleet & Family Support Center, which were well received and much appreciated by staff.  Tobin’s questions were answered as the briefing progressed; upon the briefings’ conclusion, Tobin stated he was appreciative of the time and effort of all who those who contributed to such an informative briefing.

After a brief site tour, Tobin concluded his visit by saying that the command environment was extraordinary and he now knows from being in Guam that the warfighters are being well served by the professionalism, enthusiasm and can-do attitude of DLA Distribution Guam, Marianas.
