DLA Aviation employee receives DAW Individual Achievement Award

By Bonnie Koenig DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Aviation employee Marsha Barron received the 2015 Defense Acquisition Workforce Individual Achievement Award in the category of Production, Quality, and Manufacturing Dec. 10 at the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes in Arlington, Virginia. Barron is a technical quality supervisor for Supplier Operations Directorate at DLA Aviation in Richmond, Virginia.

The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, the Honorable Frank Kendall hosted and presented Barron the award. Kendall wrote in an announcement letter in early November that the award was established to recognize individuals (military and civilian) and organizations that have demonstrated excellent performance in each of the 17 functional acquisition categories of Department of Defense products and services.

Barron was recognized for her hard work and many achievements that have had far reaching impacts for DLA and DLA Aviation’s military customers. The nomination, submitted by Supplier Operations Directorates’ Mike Colesar, Electrical Components and Cables deputy division chief and Integrated Supplier Team Chief Denise Prince stated Barron and her team of product specialists procure cables, lighting, and various electrical components used by DLA Aviation, maritime and ground forces customers and specifically for weapon systems within and outside of the United States, as well as for foreign military sales customers. Barron’s skilled oversight ensured that all military customers receive quality parts from only approved sources, and that non-compliant material was promptly reviewed and disposed of properly and efficiently, resulting in keeping DLA’s pipeline free of defective or fraudulent material. It also stated that her proven expertise and ability to act decisively saved DLA customers countless dollars and productivity hours and making a positive impact on mission readiness.
