Cherry Point’s Kidd honored as DLA Employee of the Quarter

Matthew Kidd, distribution process worker at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Cherry Point, N.C., has been honored as the DLA Employee of the Quarter for fourth quarter, fiscal year 2015, for his critical role on the retail receiving deck, handling nearly 90 percent of all transshipments.

On average, DLA Distribution Cherry Point processes over 800 transshipments each month.  The vast majority of the transshipments are purchases that directly support Fleet Readiness Center East.  Kidd creates documentation to ensure material is properly processed and delivered to the customer.

In an effort to provide exceptional customer service, Kidd developed a process to track and store material that requires research.  He also established a barcoding system, crafting a more efficient way to store information including addresses, contacts, and stations to quickly import into a new document.

Kidd assists his team with receiving, wrapping, and weatherproofing material for delivery.  He is also constantly seeking to increase his knowledge and skills, and recently participated in a cross-training program to become more familiar with other areas of distribution.

“Mr. Kidd continually displays exceptional dedication and distinguishes himself among his peers,” said Kevin Taylor, the distribution center’s director.
