RICHMOND, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency employees on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia celebrated the March Warrior Wednesday with a Spirit of Spring Fun Walk/Run.
Almost 100 employees showed their spirit by wearing red, white and blue and walked or ran between two to four miles while enjoying an hour of physical fitness on a hot spring day.
“It was a good walk,” said Trina Vanstory, who is a regular participant in the agency’s Fitness Program and walked with several of her co-workers. Employees may learn more about the agency’s Fitness and Wellness Program by reading through the DLA Instruction as well as the FAQ sheet developed for the program.
Marichell Scott helped to organize the event and said the turnout was far better than she expected. Scott works in DLA Aviation Supplier Operations as a contract specialist and is the special events chairperson for the Employee Working Group, which sponsors Warrior Wednesday.
“To my surprise we were asked, when will we do this again?” she said. “So it looks like another walk/run will be sometime this fall. I would like to thank all those who came out to support the event. It could not have been successful without you. Because of you, it makes me want to do more.”
Warrior Wednesday, an initiative to build esprit de corps among DLA Aviation employees, aligns with and supports DLA’s Strategic Plan, Goal Area 1: Warfighter First.
This monthly event allows the workforce to celebrate how their individual efforts at DLA contribute and positively impact the mission, and the safety and success of the soldiers, airmen, sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen in service to America across all DLA Aviation’s geographic locations. As a symbol of each employee’s solidarity to the program, employees are asked to wear red, white and blue clothing.
