Visker named director of Distribution's Organizational Management/J9

Edward R. Visker, former point of contact for Organizational Development has been named director of DLA Distribution Organizational Management/J9. Very familiar with DLA Distribution operations, Visker previously served as the deputy commander of the Susquehanna distribution center.

Visker also served as the chief of staff for DLA Distribution from December 2005 until his retirement from the Army at the rank of colonel in May 2006.  He was also the commander of DLA Distribution San Joaquin, Calif., from June 2001 to April 2004.  Upon his departure from San Joaquin, Visker served as the chief, Sustainment Division, U.S. Central Command Deployment and Distribution Operations Center at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

His previous assignments include commander of the 55th Theater Material Management Center at Camp Henry, Taegu, South Korea; and commander of DLA Distribution Anniston, Ala.  He held a joint duty position with Special Operations Command Central (Airborne), MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., where he was the headquarters commandant and director of logistics (J4).  At Fort Bragg, N.C., he was the chief of Logistics Plans with the 1st Corps Support Command (Airborne) and executive officer of the 530th Supply Service Battalion, later re-designated the 264th Corps Support Battalion. Visker served as the supervisory contracting officer for DLA’s Defense Subsistence Region Europe in Zweibruecken, Germany.  He was the deputy chief of the General Supply Division and the Production Planning and Control Division at Sharpe Army Depot.  Visker also held several positions with the 278th General Supply Company at Fort Devens, Mass., serving as equipment platoon leader, supply platoon leader and company commander.

Visker, a native of Albany, N.Y., was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Quartermaster Corps upon graduation from Siena College, where he was a distinguished military graduate in 1979.  At the same time, he was awarded a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance.  He also holds masters’ degrees in logistics systems management from the University of Southern California and strategy from the U.S. Army War College.

His military training includes the Quartermaster Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Training with Industry in Contracting and Industrial Management, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the Joint Officers Course, and the U.S. Army War College.

His awards and decorations include numerous Sustained Superior Performance Awards, the Defense Superior Service Medal; the Legion of Merit; the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; the Meritorious Service Medal; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal; the Joint Service Achievement Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Support Medals; the Korean Service Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal.  He also earned the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the National Defense Medal with star, and the Parachutist Badge.
