MISSION

The NESO serves as DLA’s lead agent to synchronize the Agency’s efforts and resources to ensure responsive material support to the DoD Nuclear Enterprise (NE), Space Enterprise (SE), Missile Defense, and their strategic warfighters.

OBJECTIVES

DLA focuses on four key objectives as the framework for the Agency’s support, sustainment, modernization of the NE/SE platforms. DLA is modifying business processes and procedures as necessary to support the following mission objectives:

  • Proactively support DoD Nuclear Enterprise (NE) and Space Enterprise (SE) inventory management efforts.
  • Posture DLA for effective and secure supply chain support to the NE and SE for legacy and Next Generation weapon systems and platforms.
  • Sustain Partnerships to improve DLA support for NE and SE Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAPs).
  • Codify DLA’s Strategic Deterrence role as the normal state of DLA operations.

WHAT IS THE NESO?

DLA is an integral element of the military logistics system, providing focused solutions to Military Services and Combatant Commands. The NESO serves as the center for DLA’s support to the NE/SE and facilitates the development of DLA capabilities to ensure long-term support and sustained partnerships for DoDs nuclear and space warfighters.

WHY DO WE NEED THE NESO?

NESO strengthens and optimizes DLA’s resources and processes to support the nuclear and space enterprises. NESO expands DLA’s ability to effectively reach out to potential new customers and identifies and corrects gaps in existing NE/SE support. We partner with USSTRATCOM, USSPACECOM, USSF, other Military Services, and the Missile Defense Agency to support their planning and operations.

HOW IS THE NESO IMPROVING DOD NE/SE WEAPON/SPACE SYSTEM SUPPORTABILITY?

NESO partners with Military Services Program Offices, logistics providers, and end users to deliver innovative solutions to the NE/SE Supply Chains. We engage our NE/SE partners to proactively adapt DLA’s support based on changing strategic mission objectives and operational tempos.

HOW IS THE NESO SUPPORTING STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL NUCLEAR/SPACE FORCES?

The NESO collaborates with Military Services NE/SE strategic stakeholders, to focus DLA efforts on improving material availability for NE/SE customers.

NESO also ensures DLA remains focused on complete life cycle support from provisioning through disposition.
