New director selected for DLA Logistics Operations
Army Brig. Gen. Lynn A. Collyar has been selected as the new director of DLA Logistics Operations.
Collyar most recently served as chief of ordnance for the Army. He also was commander of the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and commandant of the U.S. Army Ordnance School at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. He has presided over the school’s consolidation and upcoming relocation to Fort Lee, Va.’s Missile and Munitions Center.
Collyar also was commander of the Defense Distribution Center in New Cumberland, Pa., from August 2006 to August 2008. He assumed command of DDC after serving as chief of the Army’s Focused Logistics Division.
“General Collyar has held a wide variety of key leadership assignments throughout his career and has extensive logistics experience supporting Army forces around the globe,” Defense Logistics Agency Director Navy Vice Adm. Alan Thompson said in a message to senior DLA leaders.
Thompson said Collyar’s previous assignments have prepared him well to now assume the duties of the director of DLA Logistics Operations.
“Please join me in welcoming Lynn Collyar back to the DLA senior leadership team,” Thompson said.
A native of Stillwater, Okla., Collyar was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps upon graduation from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y., in 1979.
He is a graduate of the Ordnance Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He also holds a master's degree in national resource strategy from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
