Defense Logistics Agency Director Navy Vice. Adm. Mark Harnitchek toured DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, and met with senior leaders of the organization’s key logistics partner and host, Red River Army Depot, Feb. 19.
Army Col. Doyle Lassitter, RRAD commander, welcomed Harnitchek and provided a brief on Red River’s mission, which consists of ground combat and tactical system sustainment maintenance operations and related support services. Following the brief, Harnitchek toured Red River’s High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles facility.
Harnitchek then toured DLA Distribution Red River’s operations center and Logistics Modernization Program mission areas. “Here at DLA Distribution Red River, the Logistics Modernization Program has made significant improvements in our response times by anticipating our customer needs in order to deliver the right part at the right time,” said Keith Swartz, the Logistics Modernization Program chief at DLA Distribution Red River.
Harnitchek presented coins to several employees, thanking them for their efforts.
“You know the business better than anyone else,” Harnitchek said.
Willie Houff, distribution support division chief, said DLA team members at the facility appreciated the recognition.
“The coin presentation was a great way to show team members that their outstanding support is appreciated,” he said. “The director was impressed with our teamwork and professionalism in accomplishing the mission.”
Army Lt. Col. Milton Kelly, DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, commander, said the visit was a chance to showcase his organization’s teamwork.
“We are proud of what we are doing here at DLA Distribution Red River and welcomed the opportunity to showcase our efforts as a team; together everyone achieves more,” he said.
