A former commander of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation will take over as director of DLA Logistics Operations, according to an April 9 announcement by DLA Director Navy Vice Adm. Mark Harnitchek to the agency’s senior leaders.

Navy Rear Adm. Vincent Griffith will report to his new position in June, replacing Army Maj. Gen. Kenneth Dowd, who retired April 4. Griffith currently serves as the commander of Naval Supply Systems Command Global Logistics Support.

“He brings a wealth of logistics knowledge and experience to the agency, having served in a variety of key supply and logistics roles throughout his career,” Harnitchek wrote. “Vince is a welcome addition to the DLA senior leadership team.”

Griffith served as DLA Aviation’s director from 2009 to 2011. His sea duty assignments include the USS Saratoga, the USS Stonewall Jackson and the USS John C. Stennis.  His other shore duties include U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk, Va.; Naval Air Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet in San Diego; and the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

Griffith earned his bachelor’s degree from Berry College in 1981, and he received a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University.
