DLA Energy Commander addresses workforce

The coronavirus virus and upcoming personnel transitions were among topics of discussion during the Defense Logistics Agency Energy all hands held in the McNamara Headquarters Complex auditorium, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, March 10.

DLA Energy Commander Brig. Gen. Albert G. Miller kicked off the town hall by sharing employee related news and recognizing employees who reached career milestones in federal service.

Length of service recognition for 30 years went to Lawrence Sims, Stacy Stoll and Tony Selby.

Eight individuals were acknowledged for their 35 year of service. They included Darcy Hall, Allen Lamson, John Nelson, Mary Martinez, Robert Rush, Stuart Bailey, Nina Taliferro, Danielle Noble and Jack Whitacker.

Four people were recognized for 40 years of service. They are Eileen Spears, Stanley Jasiczek, Randy Cottrell and Richard Dickson.

Miller congratulated the Energy employees of the quarter for the first quarter of fiscal year 2020:

DLA Energy Middle East Agnes Eugenio (GS 07-12)

DLA Energy Korea Robert Barta (GS 13-15)

DLA Energy Europe & Africa Army Master Sgt. Steven Latham for Senior Noncommissioned Officer

DLA Energy Middle East Navy Lt. Cmdr. John Renquist, for Field Grade Officer

DLA Energy Middle East Army Capt. James Rojek for Company Grade Officer

DLA Energy Americas received the Distinguished Unit of the Corps award. The award was introduced in 1993 to recognize outstanding units, past and present that have made significant contributions to the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps.

“Outstanding job, that speaks volumes to what other organizations think of us,” Miller said. “The former DLA Energy Deputy Commander, Mr. Guy Beougher, is also being inducted into their Hall of Fame.”

DLA Energy’s new Sexual Assault Response Coordinator Ella Warren briefed that April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month by both civilian and military communities.

“Did you know that every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted?” she asked the audience. “Everyone is affected by sexual violence.”

“April is an opportunity to highlight robust efforts to care for victims and innovative ways to infuse prevention practices into our daily mission,” she said.

DLA Energy Deputy Commander Eric Smith spoke about upcoming senior leadership transitions, including the DLA Energy Commander Change of Command scheduled for June 23.

Director of DLA Energy Manpower and Administrative Support Darcy Hall highlighted that March 31 is the end of the Department of Defense Performance Management and Appraisal Program’s performance period. She stressed the importance of ongoing communication between supervisor and employee, as well as the necessity of keeping track of accomplishments, special projects and unique assignments.
