DLA Energy debuts industry newsletter

By Connie Braesch DLA Energy Public Affairs

Industry Connections, a new quarterly Defense Logistics Agency Energy newsletter, was released in January to DLA Energy suppliers, partners and industry stakeholders.

The newsletter features upcoming procurement opportunities, business unit spotlight stories, and demand planning information.

“Working remotely has been challenging on many levels, but this newsletter is an effective way to show our suppliers that DLA Energy remains ‘open for business,’” said DLA Energy Director of Supplier Operations and Head of the Contracting Activity Gabby Earhardt. “We can’t hold in-person gatherings right now, but we can stay connected to both our current and potential suppliers through the newsletter and the industry engagement webpage.”

These tools are initiatives under the DLA Industry Engagement Plan and a result of the supplier feedback survey. Agency-wide, leaders are working to build stronger industry partnerships to meet long-term objectives and produce the most cost-effective and innovative solutions for our customers.

“A newsletter is our way of saying, ‘we want to share more with you, we want to engage!’” said DLA Energy Supplier Advocate Ashleigh Johnson.

Supplier Advocate Susan Lowe said it’s always been important for DLA Energy to have an open line of communication with suppliers, but the COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges.

“We knew industry days, conferences and large meetings were going to be out of the question for a while, so we really focused our efforts on building more resources for our valued suppliers,” Lowe said.

Another industry engagement initiative is the DLA Energy Supplier Advocacy Council which includes members from across the DLA Energy contracting community.

“The SAC is a forum for council members to review industries’ concerns and recommend improvements and strategies,” Johnson said. “The SAC provides tools and recommendations to increase business opportunities and vendor competition.”

Stay tuned to the DLA Energy industry engagement webpage for more engagement opportunities and the next issue of the Industry Connections newsletter in April.
