CENTCOM senior leader visits DLA Energy Middle East

By Jonathan Stack DLA Energy Public Affairs

The U.S. Central Command Deployment and Distribution Operations Center director visited Defense Logistics Agency Energy Middle East facilities at Naval Support Activity Bahrain Sept. 17.

During her visit, Navy Rear Adm. Valerie Huegel toured multiple DLA Energy Middle East buildings, spoke to employees, presented DLA Energy Middle East employees Chancley Meadows and Phillips Adams with CDDOC Director’s Coins for Excellence and received a briefing by the Middle East commander, Army Col. Marc Thoreson.

“The daily synchronization of information between both CDDOC and DLA Energy Middle East is a critical function to ensure all stakeholders have visibility of all bulk fuel movement in Iraq and across the area of operation,” Thoreson said.

One way the two organizations synchronize information is through the DLA Energy Middle East’s daily situational report.

“I read your DLA Energy Middle East daily SITREP every day,” Huegel said when meeting with DLA Energy Middle East Customer Operations personnel responsible for generating the bulk fuel comprehensive daily report.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Antwan Stanley, DLA Energy Middle East Petroleum Operations noncommissioned officer in charge, said it was nice talking to the rear admiral about the organization’s daily SITREP and to have her say she reads it every day.

“A large portion of our time in Customer Operations is dedicated to producing the daily SITREP, and it was good to hear that it is used by the commands we distribute it too,” he added.

While presenting DLA Energy Middle East employees with coins, Huegel said she has the utmost respect for all technical experts, including contracting specialists, with the technical expertise and professional commitment necessary to ensure contract language fully supports the validated warfighter requirements.

The CDDOC director is responsible for ensuring the synchronization and optimization of strategic and theater multi-modal resources to maximize distribution, force movement and sustainment logistics.
