At the height of schools closing around the country due to COVID-19 in mid-March, the Defense Logistics Agency’s Subsistence supply chain added 200 schools from Illinois to a program that would help them get fresh fruits and vegetables into lunches for students and eventually the community.

Training the next generation of warfighter supporters goes virtual during pandemic
RICHMOND, VA —
When Defense Logistics Agency Pathways to Career Excellence Class 39 kicked off March 16, 20-year Army veteran Daryl Johnson was among the 30 members embarking on the two-year journey.
The DLA Pathways to Career Excellence Program trains entry-level employees for advancement in supply, technical quality, procurement and finance fields through on-the-job work assignments, cross-training, rotational assignments and formal instruction. Johnson and his classmates were still in-processing into DLA when the agency launched a maximum telework policy March 23 due to COVID-19.

Virtual change of command ceremony celebrates leaders’ accomplishments from afar
RICHMOND, Va. —
Navy Capt. Ernan Obellos relinquished command of Defense Logistics Agency Aviation – San Diego to Navy Cmdr. Maxine Gardner in a virtual change of command ceremony May 27 on Naval Base Coronado.
DLA Aviation Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. David Sanford, who is currently on a special assignment as Deputy of the COVID-19 Supply Chain Task Force with the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Washington, D.C., officiated the ceremony virtually from his office there.
