The People and Culture Directorate hosted a Post Retirement Lessons Learned Panel Nov. 1. 

Four DLA Land and Maritime retirees returned to the Building 20 Auditorium to share their individual retirement journey and lessons learned.  Terry Martin, James McClaugherty, Yvonne Pardon and Pat Shields shared personal stories with 250 associates who are currently retirement eligible or are planning for it in the next 10 years.

Each of the panelists shared their answers to the following questions:

• When is the right time?

• How did you prepare?

• What did you get right?

• What would you have done differently?

• What are you doing now?

All four panelists stressed the importance of not just being financially prepared to retire, but also being emotionally and relationally prepared.
