Veterans serving veterans, giving thanks across military generations

Many Americans gathered with family and friends to give thanks last week; however, members of the DLA Land and Maritime family met with another family to give thanks this season – veterans. The 13-member group of active duty and retired service members led by the Joint Reserve Force supported the Columbus VA annual Thanksgiving feast for area veterans. The event was held at the American Legion Post 144 on South High Street Nov. 16.

Distribution headquarters honors Women’s History Month

Employees of DLA Distribution Headquarters in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, celebrated Women’s History Month on March 22 with a presentation featuring Dr. Betty Moseley Brown, associate director of the Center for Women Veterans with the Department of Veterans Affairs. This year’s theme was “Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Relations.”

Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va., recently paused to promote two military personnel to the next higher rank. Both ceremonies were officiated by Navy Capt. Harry Thetford, commander of the distribution center.

Tobyhanna commander presents Purple Heart to Korean War veteran

If you asked James Cavanaugh, he’d tell you it wasn’t a big deal...but for the 40-plus attendees in the standing room only confines of the Hampton VAMC palliative care chapel, it was something they had never seen before – and certainly weren’t going to miss, as the Korean War Veteran received his long overdue recognition for on the field valor and sacrifice.
