DLA Distribution warehouse utilization saves Marines millions

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — A DOD-led effort to optimize warehouse management is saving the Marine Corps millions at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Barstow, California. DLA employees teamed with the Defense Department, the Marine Corps at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow in California and a contracted agency on the project.

Richard Ristow works on a vertical milling machine to design parts for a special stand to be used to support the Cougar variant of the MRAP so that mechanics can safely work on it, Aug. 2. Ristow has 35 years of experience as a machinist, a large part of that at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, aboard the Yermo Annex of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif.

Machinists create items from scratch at PPB

Carrie Eaton, tractor operator, tows a broken forklift to a back shop to be repaired April 4. Eaton and her colleagues at Material Equipment Handling section are responsible for moving all vehicles, parts, and any other materials necessary to complete work on a vehicle at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command aboard the Yermo Annex of Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif.

Defense Logistics Agency three star visits MCLB Barstow

BARSTOW, California — United States Air Force Lt. Gen. Andrew E. Busch, who heads the organization supplying every branch of America’s military, visited Defense Logistics Agency facilities aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Calif., Jan. 26.

Dustin Wiley, a wheeled mechanic at Production Plant Barstow, Marine Depot Maintenance Command, works on the engine that powers the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All Terrain Vehicles, or M-ATV, currently being repaired and upgraded at the Plant Jan. 12, 2017. Wiley is a former Army National Guardsman who served in Afghanistan as a mechanic. He said he has driven and worked on the M-ATVs and knows the heavily built troops transports save lives.
