DLA assists U.S. Navy in reintroducing Union Jack flag on naval ships

Returning to naval tradition, the Union Jack flag will replace the First Navy Jack flag which has been used on all naval vessels since 2002. The change will take place with morning colors on June 4. DLA has played a vital role in ensuring the maritime flags are on-hand and ready for the transition by gathering the information on the number of flags needed, working with the contractor to ensure production goals are met and the delivery of the flags.

Forward presence spotlight: Royal Cline

Royal Cline is a Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime customer service representative located in San Diego, California. Cline recently worked with his counterparts at DLA Troop Support to ensure Naval ships will receive the Union Jack flag to replace the current First Navy Jack flag (pictured) for the June 4 reintroduction date. Cline’s primary customer is the surface fleet but he also serves carriers, U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command, expeditionary units, shipyards and industrial sites in the Pacific Ocean area of operations.

Kevin Jones May 3 in Columbus, Ohio, for an orientation visit to discuss business operations. Their meeting was part of an Agency-wide initiative to generate increased conversation between supply chains on shared logistics, operating challenges and successes.

The Defense Supply Center Columbus has announced the federal and military nominees for the Defense Federal Community’s 2019 Woman of the Year Award. Winners will be named during the Women’s Summit March 27 at the installation’s Armed Forces Reserve Building. The award ceremony will occur during the luncheon scheduled to begin at 11:30.

Navy logisticians of DLA Land and Maritime gathered together Feb. 22 to celebrate the Navy Supply Corps’ 224th birthday.
