VDI not working?

Try the following first:

  • Close all browser windows and try again.

  • If you’ve received a new CAC after July 31, 2020, or you’ve been informed your DLA account has transitioned to PIV-Auth, use the 16-digit PIV-Auth certificate when logging in, otherwise continue using the 10-digit DoD EMAIL certificate.

  • Both PIV-Auth and Email certificates may now display when logging in and the system may default to the incorrect one. Once the box to enter your PIN presents, check to see if a second certificate icon appears. Please watch our VDI certificate selection video for details and to ensure you are selecting the right certificate.

  • Review the Virtual Desktop User Guide.

  • Internet Explorer is deprecated and no longer a recommended browser for launching a VDI desktop. It is recommended to use Microsoft Edge.

Thick Clients using VDI

***DLA thick client users can now use VDI or Palo Alto for remote connection to the DLA network.

If you are accessing VDI while on a thick client, you should disconnect from Palo Alto VPN for the best performance in your VDI session. Accessing VDI while connected to VPN can cause increased latency in your VDI session.

Best practices if using your thick client to connect to VDI -

Onsite:

  • Connect to the DLA LAN using your docking station, a LAN cable/network port, or DLA’s wireless options.
  • Select CONUS VDI Internal (or Europe/Africa, Hawaii or Japan if OCONUS).

Important note: If you only use DLA’s wireless connection options, you also need to ensure you connect your thick client to the DLA LAN or Palo Alto every 30 days to avoid connection issues.

Offsite:

  • Connect to your home Internet Service Provider.
  • Select CONUS VDI External (or Europe/Africa, Hawaii or Japan if OCONUS).

Important note: You also need to ensure you connect your thick client to the DLA LAN onsite or Palo Alto every 30 days to avoid connection issues.

Zoom Meetings in VDI

If you are attempting to use Zoom on your thick client or UMC, you should be using the Zoom VDI Plugin for Citrix Receiver for best results. If you are experiencing problems accessing your camera in a Zoom meeting, you may be missing the Zoom VDI Plugin for Citrix Receiver.

Mac OS Support

Per DLA Leadership direction, using a Mac to access DLA environments is not supported.
