Women workers at quartermaster depot
A young woman worker assists in the creation of American flags for military activities at the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot. DLA Troop Support has been involved in the art of flag making since the early 1800s when Betsy Ross made more than 50 garrison flags for the Schuylkill Arsenal. Today, Troop Support's Clothing and Textiles flag room creates patriotic flags for all branches of the armed services and is the sole producer of the hand-embroidered presidential and vice presidential flags.
