DLA Distribution Commander delivers Women's History Month message

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. This year’s theme, “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories,” recognizes women who have devoted their lives in telling stories through all forms of media and which have given a voice to those from all walks of life.

To guide us in recognizing the achievements and impact women have had on the history of our nation, DLA Distribution EEO created the Women’s History Month newsletter. The newsletter includes articles celebrating two current DLA Distribution trailblazing women — Army Lt. Col. Sonia Huertas, Commander of DLA Distribution Red River, Texas, and Meg Ross, Acquisition Operations Director.  In addition, the newsletter highlights two women from DLA Distribution’s history —  Army Brig. Gen. Barbara Doornink, retired, Commander of DLA Distribution from 1998-2000 and Pat Kuntz, who rose quickly through the ranks during her 28-year career and became DLA Distribution’s Senior Transportation Officer.

This month, as we commemorate the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women not only in American history but in our future, I, along with Mr. Knight, thank you and your families for all you do to support the organization, our Warfighters, and our great Nation.
