DLA Distribution commander delivers Veterans Day message

By DLA Distribution Public Affairs

DLA Distribution Teammates,

We join the nation in celebrating Veterans Day each year on November 11. Because the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, the federal government will acknowledge Veterans Day on Friday, November 10.

The theme for Veterans Day 2023 is “Service.” It is important to note the purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.  The day was created to show our gratitude for the many sacrifices service members make daily to protect our nation at home and abroad.  Warfighters put their lives on hold and on the line for the sake of our safety every day.  They deserve the utmost recognition for their service to our nation.

As your commander, I’m very proud of DLA Distribution’s current active-duty and reserve military as well as those who previously served our great nation.  Your military service is a testament to the values of honor, duty and service to something greater than yourself. These values are instilled early through rigorous training and honed throughout careers. Our shared mission, whether in the military or civilian world, is to work together as One Team to deliver readiness and lethality to the Warfighter.

As you commemorate Veterans Day, please take a moment to reflect on the significance of Veterans Day, to appreciate the many freedoms and opportunities we enjoy today, because of the extraordinary service of our military. Most importantly, remember to thank a Veteran for their service, bestowing the honor we owe them for fulfilling their patriotic duties.

Mr. Knight and I want to thank you for your service and dedication to the Warfighter, and as you enjoy the Veterans Day holiday, please take a moment to remember the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians and Coast Guardsmen, who are deployed all over the world ensuring our freedom.

V/R,

G. D. CHASE
