Troop Support celebrates Army’s 242nd birthday

By DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

Preparations to celebrate the Army’s 242nd birthday began early for the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support.

While cake was cut one day before the service’s June 14 birthday at DLA Troop Support’s Philadelphia headquarters, the Subsistence supply chain began the work to help deliver Army birthday cakes to 194 dining facilities around the world much earlier.

Approximately 300,000 servings of cake will be consumed for the celebration, according to the Army’s Joint Culinary Center of Excellence officials at Fort Lee, Virginia.

The cakes even landed in Lithuania where soldiers with the 1st Sustainment Brigade celebrated the Army birthday while participating in Operation Saber Strike 17, a multinational, U.S. Army Europe-led exercise designed to enhance interoperability among Allies and regional partners.
