BATTLE CREEK, Mich. –
Army Brig. Gen. John S. Laskodi, commanding general, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, met with his Battle Creek, Michigan, workforce and thanked them for their support to DLA Disposition Services during a site visit Oct. 25.
Laskodi explained his vision for the agency and the important role those 14 local Distribution members play in that vision.
While he made it clear that warfighter support is the primary mission of the agency, he cited the role of DLA Distribution in delivering supplies for hurricane recovery efforts in Florida, Texas and Puerto Rico and thanked employees for the part they played in the recovery efforts.
Laskodi also posed the hypothetical question: “What will be the impact of supplies being delivered by drones?”
He admitted he did not have the answer, but he encouraged them to think about what the agency would look like in the future and what impact new technology may have on their mission.
“As we look toward the future, we need to make sure this network remains viable to be able to surge and meet those warfighter demands,” Laskodi said.
He encouraged them to share their ideas on how to improve the network with their leadership so the agency could meet future challenges.
While in Battle Creek, Laskodi met with the leadership of DLA Disposition Services at its headquarters there.
