The senior acquisition executive for the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support received the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award during a ceremony at the Pentagon June 20.

William J. Kenny, executive director of Contracting and Acquisition Management, received the award for senior government career professionals in recognition of extraordinary public service.

The annual Presidential Rank Awards recognize a select group of senior executive service members who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in their federal careers. The Meritorious Executive award is the second highest honor that can be earned and is awarded to only 5 percent of SES members.

Kenny has served in several positions at DLA Troop Support, including director of Customer Operations, director of the Construction and Equipment supply chain and executive director of Business Operations. He also served at the Pentagon as a procurement analyst for the Department of Defense Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition Reform.

Kenny holds a Master of Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University and as a Master of Science in Management from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service and the Vice President's Hammer Award for government reinvention of acquisition.

He attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School Executive Business Program, the University of Virginia Darden School Executive Business Program and the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
