Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Job Fair

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime participated in the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities Job Fair Oct 17. The event was sponsored by the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired, Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and Division of Disability Determination.

Representing DLA Land and Maritime were associates David Lanzillotta, David Anders and Lametra Dulaney.

The job fair focus was introducing individuals with various disabilities to perspective employers. This fair allowed associates to inform job seekers about DLA and the many employment opportunities available.

The job fair was staffed with qualified individuals to assist attendees depending on their disability communicate with companies.

The fair started with a workshop discussing the obstacles a person with disabilities may encounter when applying for a position and how to correct these obstacles. When the workshop was over, attendees went back to their tables to prepare for the opening.

The DLA table attracted several individuals who expressed interest in working for DLA Land and Maritime and the federal government.

The majority of questions were about the application process. A large amount of time was spent discussing federal government hiring tool USA Jobs and then DLA Land and Maritime. The many hiring programs promoted by DLA were also highlighted.
