Troop Support honors 2018 Hall of Fame inductees

By John Dwyer III DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

Former employees Jacqueline A. Basquill, Keith R. Ford and Wayne H. Williford were inducted into the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Hall of Fame during a ceremony Nov. 13.

The DLA Troop Support commander presided over the event as inductees were recognized for their contributions to the Troop Support mission and officially entered the ranks of the Hall of Fame.

“As commander of this great organization, I take pride in knowing that there is a passionate, committed workforce who ensures that DLA maintains its stellar reputation,” said Army Brig. Gen. Mark Simerly. “To the inductees: You are truly deserving of this honor. It’s a privilege for me to recognize your many contributions and to induct you into DLA Troop Support’s Hall of Fame.”

Each honoree was individually lauded for their significant and enduring contributions to the organization.

Basquill served in the Medical supply chain from 1973 to 2014 as a leader and role model for civilian and military personnel. The positive attitude and unyielding willingness to serve others that she displayed continues to be a benefit to Troop Support to this day.

“What a prestigious honor and privilege to be forever remembered for performing a job that I so loved to do each and every day,” said Basquill.

Ford served in several offices, including comptroller, Subsistence and Clothing and Textiles, from 1981 to 2016. He was honored for his dedication, commitment, loyalty and vision along with a willingness to “dig beneath the surface for solutions,” according to his citation.

Known by some as the “Father of Prime Vendor,” Ford oversaw the implementation of the prime vendor and Enterprise Business Systems programs, which are both still used throughout Troop Support.

“I am very proud to be selected for the DLA Troop Support Hall of Fame,” said Ford. “I had a great job, I worked with some great commanders and I worked with some great people.”

Williford’s career spanned from 1980 to 2016. Though he worked in many positions, he was recognized for his cross-organizational impact in institutionalizing culture and climate problem solving methods that are still used at Troop Support. His personal approach, kindness and innovation helped shape Troop Support programs and processes.

Williford’s contributions and leadership of the advancement of DLA People and Culture initiatives left a lasting impact on culture improvement and process excellence.

Inducted posthumously, Williford’s sister, Dr. Carolyn Williford-Jackson, provided remarks on his behalf.

“Those of you who got to meet Wayne knew … He could really change the climate of a room in a positive way,” said Williford’s sister.

To be inducted into the DLA Troop Support Hall of Fame, employees must have been separated from Troop Support service for at least two years, but not more than 10. They must also have made a significant long-term contribution to Troop Support or provided outstanding customer service and an exemplary work ethic during their tenure. Former employees include all active and reserve component military and civilians.

Congratulations to the DLA Troop Support Hall of Fame Class of 2018 inductees.
