COLUMBUS, Ohio –
The Defense Supply Center Columbus will celebrate the 72nd Air Force Birthday Sept. 18 at 9 a.m. in the Operations Center Auditorium. The event is hosted by Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime and will feature keynote speaker Air Force Col. Kevin Cullen, commander of The Ohio State University’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment. Cullen is a professor of aerospace studies at OSU and leads a cadre of officers and enlisted personnel responsible for developing future Air Force leaders.
The U.S. Air Force was established on Sept. 18, 1947, through the National Security Act of 1947. Prior to that, the Air Force operated as a combatant arm of the U.S. Army known as the Army Air Forces.
