Tell us about yourself in a couple of sentences. I grew up in Hastings, Michigan. I am from a large, close-knit family and enjoy traveling, gardening and reading. I manage the day-to-day operations at my field site.

How long have you worked for the federal government including military service? I have worked for the federal government for 20 years: 16 years with DLA and four years with the Navy.

How long have you worked for DLA Disposition Services? I have worked for DLA Disposition Services for nine years.

What is your favorite thing about your line of work? I enjoy engaging with the customers, teaching them about DLA Disposition Services and what we have to offer.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you? A supervisor once told me – “You are always being interviewed, conduct yourself accordingly.”

What do you think about when you hear “Culture”? I think about how significantly good or bad culture can impact a team’s ability to function.

How long have you been involved in the Culture team? This is my first experience being on a culture team.

What got you involved in the Culture team? I saw the message asking for volunteers and I wanted to be part of the team that works to make DLA Disposition Services a better place to work.

What inspired you to take on your new role with the team? I work at a small OCONUS field site.  Any one of those three factors presents a challenge, all three at once can be overwhelming at times. Being part of the Culture team will allow me to; represent the field perspective, hear leadership’s thoughts on culture, and work to improve culture both at my site and in the organization.

Name your favorite/recent book(s) you have read. My favorite book is “The Timekeeper” by Mitch Albom. The book’s main character is Father Time and it explores his mission to teach people the true meaning of time.

Tell us something that most people might not know about you. Most people in DLA Disposition Services don’t know that I started my career with DLA in J6 Logistics Information Services as a National Stock Number cataloguer.

What is your best memory of working here? My best memory working for DLA is when I joined the Warfighter Support Representative team in J6. Deploying downrange with teammates creates a significant bond. The WSR team was a group of truly amazing people that were dedicated to warfighter support.
