Strategic leadership summit continues in Battle Creek, Michigan

By Jason Shamberger DLA Disposition Services

The DLA Disposition Services Strategic Leadership Summit in Battle Creek, Michigan continued on day four with contracting serving as the primary topic of the day.

Participants discussed agreements, contract requirements and standing up the new contracting requirements branch.

“This branch consolidates requirement development across the major subordinate command into one central entry point,” said Contracting Division Chief Roger Lonoza, “We’re streamlining and creating efficiencies that didn’t exist before. We’re shortening timelines for the field we’re increasing the quality of the product and making things much [clearer] and easier to digest for all of the people who are out in the field.”

DLA Disposition Services Director Mike Cannon went on to further highlight benefits contracting and requirements personnel will see from the new branch.

“If these two teams are constantly collaborating, we are going to get better requirements and better contracts,” Cannon said.

The day was not spent entirely discussing contracting, as summit participants took a break for some more lighthearted festivities.
