Over $208 million Air Force KC-46A parts moving to DLA Distribution Oklahoma City

By Diana Dawa, DLA Distribution Public Affairs

The Air Force is expanding its current storage and distribution requirements of the Boeing KC-46A program at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Over 61,000 spare parts, valued at more than $208 million will move into the distribution network, supporting the KC-46A Program Office with receipt, issue and stow services.

“Boeing completed delivery of all material in December 2020,” said John Northrup, director of DDOO. “The start of logistics reassignment was completed in August 2021, and a business case analysis was submitted for an additional 10 employees to support the projected increase in workload as the KC-46 weapon systems moves to sustainment.”

Funding the additional employees, in accordance with Defense Working Capital Fund operating principles, enables DLA Distribution to continue to support core storage and distribution functions for the Defense Department and government entities. Customers will continue to receive their materiel within established performance parameters, and DDOO will generate additional revenue by processing increased levels of workload.

DLA Distribution Oklahoma City provides a full range of distribution services in support of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, Tinker Air Force Base tenants and other global customers. On base customers include the 552nd Air Control Wing, Navy Strategic Communications Wing One and the 507th Air Refueling Wing.

DDOO core services include receiving, storing, packaging and issuing military supplies. Support to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex is primarily for programmed depot maintenance for aircraft and engines and is available around the clock.

Shipments from DDOO also support customers on Air Force bases and DoD installations worldwide with the various systems and commodities procured by DLA and repaired at Tinker Air Force Base.

DDOO is one of 24 distribution centers under the command of DLA Distribution, a major subordinate command of DLA.
