Spring-like day draws over 125 participants to Frosty Bear 5K

By DLA Public Affairs

An event notorious for being rescheduled because of snow and ice went off amid near 70 degree temps and a sunny sky Feb. 6.

The annual Frosty Bear 5K run/walk drew over 125 McNamara Headquarters Complex employees from their desks, including moms and dads with strollers and those just wanting to take a walk in the unseasonably warm weather.

Defense Logistics Agency Energy and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency swept the competition. Top male and female runners were DLA Energy’s Alex Cano and DTRA’s Marcus Young. Diana Angstadt from DTRA and Louise Hansen from DLA Energy took second place. Young and Hansen are repeat winners, having taken first place in last year’s Frosty Bear. All winners received a gift card from Metro Run & Walk.

The event is organized by Morale Welfare and Recreation and the HQC Fitness Staff. The next 5K run/walk is the HQC Spring Fling scheduled for April 10.
