Army, DLA officials strengthen collaboration

By Dianne Ryder DLA Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency and Army leaders discussed readiness and mutual support during Army/DLA Day at the Pentagon Nov. 22.

Army Lt. Gen. Duane Gamble, the service’s deputy chief of staff for logistics, and Lisha Adams, executive deputy to the Army Materiel Command commanding general, lauded DLA’s value and “exquisite” support to the Army.

DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams said DLA’s purpose is to support the Army and neither entity can effectively perform independent of the other. Service days are designed to address issues and set up a strategic framework for DLA to resolve problems.

Williams encouraged a candid, professional discussion among all leaders to address subjects Army officials wanted to address during the session.

Briefing topics included major weapons systems and increased material availability; how the DLA Readiness Dashboard will continue capturing Army readiness drivers; cost transparency; demand planning; suspended stock and stock positioning; DLA major subordinate command updates and improvements in soldiers’ gear such as athletic footwear and hot weather combat uniforms.

The event closed with a review of takeaways and outstanding tasks.
