Bio of Deputy Inspector General for Audit
 
Mr. Pigott

Mr. Steven Pigott has been the DLA Deputy Inspector General for Audit since 2012.  Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Deputy Inspector General for Audit beginning in August 2008.  As the Deputy Inspector General for Audit, DLA’s senior auditor, he has two major responsibilities: ensuring both the long-term viability of the audit function in DLA and the day-to-day supervision of operational or performance audits.  His chief long-term responsibilities include developing an annual audit plan, developing policies for executing audits in DLA, and preparing the office for peer reviews.  Daily responsibilities include monitoring three major functions: operational audits, SSAE16 reviews, and external audit liaison.

Before coming to DLA, Mr. Pigott worked at the U.S. Army Audit Agency in a variety of positions and locations.  While at Army Audit, he served as the branch chief for Quality Assurance, where he ensured the Army Audit Agency projects complied with generally accepted government auditing standards and was instrumental in assisting the peer review team conducting the 2005 to 2008 peer review.  He also served as the Fort Belvoir field office manager where he was responsible for the hiring and everyday administrative support for one of Army Audit’s largest field offices.  Preceding that he worked as an audit manager where he supervised multiple audit teams responsible for auditing a wide-variety of Army functions.

Mr. Pigott earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana in 1985.  He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Syracuse University through the Army Comptrollership Program (now the Defense Comptrollership Program) in 1998.  Additionally he has been awarded numerous awards to include two Army Achievement Medals for Civilian Service.
