Notice to DLA Suppliers:
On January 9, 2008, the Department of Defense adopted IPC/JEDEC J-STD-609, "Marking and Labeling of Components, PCBs and PCBAs to Identify Lead (Pb), Pb-Free and Other Attributes." A new clause at DLAD 52.211-9063, Unit Package Marking Requirement for Component Lead Finish, will require contractors to mark individual containers in accordance with paragraphs 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 of the standard. The marking requirements will initially apply to awards for items falling within Federal Supply Classes 5905, 5910, 5945, 5961, and 5962. Copies of the standard may be purchased or downloaded from the IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industry (IPC) or the Solid State Technology Association (JEDEC).
