Description:

The July Safety Training (monthly-required safety training) will be available on July 1, 2019 in the Learning Management System (LMS).  The class is an on-line course that you can take anytime during the month. You must have an active LMS account in order to access the training. In order to access the training please follow the steps below:

Step 1 - Log into LMS by pasting the link into your browser.

Step 2 - Click on “Heat Stress Recognition and Prevention”, then Start Course located in “My Learning Assignments”

Step 3 - In order to complete the course you must:

Review the material by paging through all content in the course.

Step 4 - Complete all test questions. NOTICE, you will NOT receive credit for the course, if you do NOT take the test questions.

Step 5- Achieve a minimum course score of 70%. If you do NOT pass, then LMS will prompt you to review the material and take the test again.

Step 6 - Upon completion, the course will indicate completion. Exit the course and get credit for taking the course by closing the browser window.

Step 7- You July print a certificate (optional) from “Completed Work”

Step 8 - Click on “Log Out” in order to exit LMS.


July Safety Training should be completed no later than July 31, 2019.

Overview/Description

Each year more people in the United States die from extreme heat than from hurricanes, lightning, tornados, floods, and earthquakes combined. This course will discuss the effects of heat on your body, outline the risk factors for heat-related illnesses, and describe the associated treatments for each. This training will also explain several control measure techniques and safe work practices that you can use to prevent heat-related stresses. The content in this course is designed to comply with the intent of the applicable regulatory requirements.

Learner objectives are to: describe how your body handles heat and what personal factors may lead to heat stress; identify the signs, symptoms, and first aid treatments of heat-related illnesses; and recall preventive measures that you can take to minimize heat stress.
