Walk a mile in the boots of a maintainer

RASMTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — Logistics In Action: Article originally appeared on the Ramstein Air Force Base website — On average, 521st Air Mobility Wing’s 721st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron inspects, services, and repairs 30 aircraft in a single day. In one weekend, they are typically responsible for more missions than all the other squadrons in the European and Pacific Commands handle in a month combined.

DLA Aviation overcomes logistical hurdles for C-5 honeycomb panels

RICHMOND, Virginia — According to the Department of the Air Force, the C-5 military transport airplane is one of the largest aircraft in the world and the largest airlifter in its inventory. The plane can carry a fully-equipped, combat-ready military unit to any point in the world on short notice and then provide the supplies required to help sustain the fighting
