Senior leaders preview new combined SAPR/EEO training

Defense Logistics Agency senior leaders participated in the agency’s first combined sexual assault and sexual harassment training July 27. The in-person training was the first to combine these similar but distinct annual training requirements for supervisors.

The June workshop, first in a planned series, taught participants to use JAWS software to ensure web pages are accessible.

The Montford Point Marines: a celebration of Black History

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania — DLA Distribution headquarters celebrated Black History Month by hosting guest speaker Retired Marine Master Gunnery Sgt. Joseph H. Geeter, III, who provided a presentation on the Montford Point Marine Association Feb. 24.

Richard Stewart, Army veteran, Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia retiree, and owner and orator of Pocahontas Island Black History Museum, shows slave shackles and chains that were pulled from the Appomattox River. These devices were used to bind Virginia slaves during that part of our nation’s history. Stewart served as the keynote speaker during the Black History Month Observance held at DSCR Feb. 25, 2016.

DLA celebrates Black History Month at DSCR by honoring local hallowed grounds

RICHMOND, Va. — Defense Logistics Agency employees on Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, celebrated Black History Month with an observance held Feb. 25. The program, which was held in the Lott’s Conference center, included two documentaries, displays of artifacts, photos and other historical documents, a keynote speaker and songs performed by the Bellwood Choir.

DLA employees get preview of new Smithsonian African American museum

Fort Belvoir, Virginia — John W. Franklin, of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, spoke to employees of DLA's McNamara Headquarters Complex Feb. 3 to commemorate African American History Month and discuss the features of the forthcoming museum.

Defense Supply Center Columbus celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Jan. 20 inside the Building 20 Auditorium. Among the handful of performers and speakers was the Genesis Dance Troupe, who performed "The Heart That Forgives."

PHILADELPHIA — Serving others is a way to live the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the DLA Troop Support commander said during a ceremony honoring King Jan. 21.
