Seven companies received five-year contracts totaling $808.1 million overall to provide interconnection equipment to the Department of Defense in a landmark move by the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime to improve warfighter readiness and help maintain a robust industrial base.

Army commands talk warfighter logistics during DSCC site visit

Representatives from U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command met with Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime logisticians Oct. 31 to open up dialogue on how best to equip warfighters to meet current and future demands. This is part of a series of collaborative meetings between the military commands and the Central Ohio logistics hub responsible for supplying spare and repair parts for thousands of weapons systems.

Defense Logistics Agency Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams visited DLA Land and Maritime Sept. 5 through Sept. 6 to get an in-person update on the business operations and how they’ve been integrated into DLA’s Strategic Plan. He also presided over the Sept. 6 retirement ceremony of Navy Rear Adm. Deborah Haven, Director of the DLA Joint Reserve Force, before leaving Columbus, Ohio.

Small Business team receives strategic goals award

DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell K. Williams presented the Strategic Goals Award – Strong Partnerships for the final quarter of fiscal 2018 to the Enterprise Small Business Team, including DLA Land and Maritime’s Office of Small Business Programs, for their efforts in exceeding the agency’s goals over the fiscal year.

Puget Sound increases contracting awards nearly 50 percent, awarding small businesses millions

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Puget Sound detachment achieved a 43 percent increase in contracting actions this year. The contracting division executed more than $103 million in contract awards during fiscal year 2018 in support of the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, an increase of nearly 50 percent over FY17.

Blog: Bloomer left his mark during 45-year legacy of service

Every so often we’re forever graced with an exceptional person. A person that quietly walks into our lives and permanently leaves their mark. That’s David Bloomer, a supervisory contract specialist with Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Land Supplier Operations. His entrance to the Power Transmissions team in November 2017 was almost unperceived since he walked into the office and cheerfully said a soft “hello.” But from day one his manner, work ethic, personality and friendship has captured our minds and hearts. Let’s take a moment to illustrate the impact we’ve experienced so you may have a glimpse into our loss occurring October 1 when he retires.
