DLA Distribution Expeditionary—Whole of Government Logistics Enabler

Hurricane Katrina, a Category 4 hurricane with a storm surge well above normal high tide levels, swept across the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama Gulf Coasts in August 2005, with maximum sustained winds at landfall estimated at 140 miles per hour. There were many lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina. One major lesson was that support supplies need to reach victims sooner rather than later following a disaster.

Herndon Jr., commander of DLA Central Command and Special Operations Command, visited DLA Distribution headquarters Nov. 7 for an overview of DLA Distribution, and a tour of DLA Distribution Susquehanna’s Eastern Distribution Center, the largest storage facility in the Department of Defense.

DLA Distribution Susquehanna supports Hurricanes Harvey and Irma recovery

As the Defense Logistics Agency continues working with U.S. Northern Command and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in a supporting role in the overall whole of government disaster response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, its distribution center in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania has been steadfastly shipping relief items to the affected areas while its deployed employees manage receipt and delivery of items.
