Paolo Pappalardo, warehouse supervisor at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Sigonella, Italy, is awarded the Jerri L. Taylor Award for Outstanding Individual Contributions.

Pappalardo’s leadership was the driving force behind the success of the DDSI warehousing division. His positive attitude and rapport within all levels of the organization was instrumental in elevating the unit cohesiveness of DDSI.

Considered the most influential and technically knowledgeable, Pappalardo built a reliable and unified team of employees that he kept focused on superior performance and quality of work. Their focus was so sharp they processed over 34,000 material release orders, more than 11,000 stows and over 4,000 re-warehousing actions without a single error.

Not enough to just accomplish the task at hand with complete success, Pappalardo also ensured the overall culture of the workplace was healthy and thriving.

During Exercise Trident Juncture 19 Pappalardo led his team to process 500 line items to 10 different customers and would ship over 5 million pounds of material.

Pappalardo exemplifies continuous process improvement with focused attention to improving operations through cost avoidance and constant improvements to the workplace environment. Improvements led by Pappalardo resulted in denial rates reduced to zero, an amazing achievement demonstrating a warfighter always mentality. His open-minded approach to labor and management relations drove excellence in production, timeliness and meeting requirements of warfighter support.

Pappalardo’s work ethic, can do attitude, and positive work culture focused leadership are the exact qualities DLA Distribution needs, and our warfighters require. His actions are a great reflection upon himself and DLA Distribution as a whole.
