The 6888th, also known as ‘Six Triple Eight,’ was the only all-Black, all-female, Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during World War II. The primary mission of the ‘Six Triple Eight’ was to sort the two- to three-year backlog of undelivered mail for U.S. service members in England and France. Their motto was “No Mail, Low Morale.”

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Pathways to Career Excellence Program graduation ceremony on Feb. 6 in the Operations Center Auditorium marked the end of two years of hard work for 85 newly minted logistics professionals ready to tackle new challenges throughout the agency.

The DLA Supply Chain Alliance Conference & Exhibition is hosted by the National Defense Industrial Association in partnership with the Defense Logistics Agency’s Land, Maritime and Aviation Class IX supply chains to provide a forum to discuss logistics support strategies and challenges, and to streamline efforts to better support the Warfighter. The 2024 event will be at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, April 23-24.

Navigating the waters of the federal contracting space as a small business is usually daunting at best. But the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Office of Small Business Programs provides a compass to steer small businesses in the right direction whether they end up contracting with the combat logistics agency or not.
