DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Jimmy Canlas introduced his new deputy commander and provided an update to the workforce during a town hall held in the Fort Belvoir McNamara Headquarters Complex auditorium July 19.
DLA Energy signed a new fuel support agreement with United Kingdom Naval Command Headquarters to improve coordination and contingency operations. This fuel agreement along with ones recently signed with Lithuania, India and Romania bring the total number of DLA Energy fuel agreements with allies around the world to 42.
One of five DLA Energy fuel labs worldwide, the Europe & Africa facility at the Rhine Ordnance Barracks in Germany tests around 2,000 fuel samples each year including routine quality surveillance, investigations of possible contamination as well as testing for secured fuels. DLA Energy Europe & Africa’s new commander Army Lt. Col. Benverren Fortune visited the lab to learn more about its capabilities and services June 10.
Cannon AFB will have access to more resilient, efficient, and reliable energy thanks to a DLA Energy $19 million energy savings performance contract.

New fuel agreement with United Kingdom for Scotland fuel storage

Keesler Energy Manager Billy Stevenson and Reggie Lechner, Keesler energy management control systems operator, analyze base power consumption in 2014. Following the award of an Energy Savings Performance contract in 2019, the Mississippi base has now implemented four energy conservation measures. Thanks to the conservation upgrades, the base expects an annual savings of 113,840 million British Thermal Units, a 15.8 percent reduction in energy consumption and $3.4 million in water savings.
