Building 20 Lactation Room supports nursing mothers

DLA Safety and Occupational Health Division

Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime’s Safety and Occupational Health Division maintains a Lactation Program for DLA Columbus personnel ensuring access to a lactation room.

The lactation room is in Room A138 located on the first floor of Building 20. The room has three private stalls, each with a slide lock, comfortable chair, outlet and countertop. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the common area for storage of expressed milk. The room itself has a door requiring a key for entry to ensure privacy. The nurse in the nearby Nurse's Station maintains the access key and a sign-in log. Anyone with access to Building 20 can see the nurse to receive a key.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act requires that employers provide a place for an employee to express breast milk, other than a bathroom, that is shielded from view and free from intrusion from coworkers and the public. For more information on the Workplace Lactation Program, contact DSCC.Safety.Health@dla.mil.
