Construction and Equipment’s cultural improvement team hosts a sweet kick-off event

By Christian Deluca DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Construction and Equipment supply chain’s cultural improvement team hosted its first in-person event since the pandemic May 10.

The team provided donuts for the event, where C&E members socialized and learned about the organization’s latest initiatives.

DLA Troop Support C&E supply chain Director U.S. Navy Capt. John Montinola said events like these help to strengthen the team and invigorate the supply chain’s culture.

“It’s refreshing to see all of your faces this morning and it shows you care about the team,” he said. “Nothing can get you through tough times –and get you to really grow and bond—as focusing on the team and the culture, and that starts with kick-off events like this. It’s a breaking bread event where you can shake hands and talk face to face. When you can have a deep conversation with your peers as well as with the people that are leading you, that experience is invaluable.”

Tom Grace, C&E deputy director, agreed that CIT events are important bonding experiences, especially as employees are adjusting to coming back to the office after extended telework due to the pandemic.

“As we settle into our new normal under the future of work, and we start to get into the battle rhythm of the hybrid approach that we’re under now. People are settling back in,” Grace said. “Reenergizing the CIT for us was an important step to help normalize this future of work. And that starts with events like this.”

Culture improvement teams focus on improving the climate and culture of the workforce by developing events and programs to enrich the workplace.
