48th LRS Airmen recognized for inventory system

By Airman 1st Class John A. Crawford 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs

The 48th Logistic Readiness Squadron’s new digital inventorying system highlighted the 48th Fighter Wing’s “Wing Strength” during the 2016 Unit Effectiveness Inspection.

The inventory system created in 2015 uses a centralized location for equipment and increased Equipment Accountability Element visibility of 21,358 assets throughout RAF Lakenheath, valued at $736.3 million and saving almost 850 man hours annually.

"During the past UEI, the inspectors were able to view the EAE system first hand," said an EAE supervisor at the 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron. "The EAE was highlighted as a wing strength during the 2016 inspection.”

EAE’s automated procedures increase deadline completions for organizational visits, appointment letters and inventories.

The system gives the EAE office and unit commanders’ access in real time to equipment documentation through the Customer Authorization/Custody Receipt Listing which consists of all equipment and assets on accounts around the base.

After the EAE system was benchmarked in the 2016 UEI, the EAE office has coordinated with 48 Communication Squadron to get a blueprint of the system to share with the other EAE sections throughout USAFE, she said.

Versions of the comprehensive and easy to use EAE inventorying system will roll out USAFE wide in May.
