DLA Distribution Joint Logistic Strategic Planner Air Force Maj. Rachel Ramos has retired after 22 years of service to the nation.

During a May 25 retirement ceremony, DLA Distribution Strategic Plans director Scott Rosbaugh recounted how Ramos had positively changed him in her two and a half years with the organization.  “Rachel is simply one of the best that I’ve seen in my 30 years at Distribution.  I was told once that it’s important to seek out and mentor someone unlike yourself.  I thank Rachel, because she really represented an opportunity for me.  She has made me a better person.”

During her time with Distribution, Ramos served as the organization’s Pacific Command planner, and also deployed in support of Central Command, volunteering to serve as the operations officer at DLA Distribution Bahrain.

As thanks for her efforts, Rosbaugh presented Ramos with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal before presenting her with a Certificate of Retirement and shadowbox honoring her career.

Ramos enlisted in the Air Force in 1995, serving as a weather observer.  After graduating from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, she was commissioned through the ROTC program as a logistics readiness officer.  She has served numerous deployments, including deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and NATO medal.
