Charlton named deputy of Albany distribution center

Andre Charlton has been selected as deputy director of DLA Distribution Albany, Georgia.

A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, and a retired United States Army Chief Warrant Officer Four, Charlton began his logistics career in 1989 with the United States Army Quartermaster Corp, where he served 25 years before retiring in 2014.

Charlton’s military assignments include general supply officer, Special Operation Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida; senior evaluator, Chief of Staff Army, Supply Excellence Award Team; and support operations officer, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Forward Operating Base Kalsu, Iraq; and numerous Platoon and Supply Support Activity leadership positions supporting Aviation, Light Infantry, Combat Engineer Heavy, and Armored Cavalry units.

His civilian career began in 2014 with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, as the chief of Distribution.  In November 2016, Charlton returned to his roots with the Department of Defense.  As a member of DLA Distribution J3 Infrastructure Management team, he served as the program manager for the Location Identification Program.

Charlton holds a bachelor’s degree in Transportation and Logistics Management and has earned a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

His awards and decoration include Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Accommodation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Iraq Campaign Medal (4th award), Armed Forces Service Medal,   Overseas Service Ribbon (6th award), NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Superior Unit Award and Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation.
