FORT BELVOIR, Virginia –
The fourth annual Defense Logistics Agency Energy Hall of Fame will be held in the Kabeiseman Center of the McNamara Headquarters Complex, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Wednesday, Nov. 13.
“It is with great pleasure that I announce the 2019 DLA Energy Hall of Fame inductees,” DLA Energy Commander Air Force Brig. Gen. Albert Miller said in an email to the workforce. “Four great DLA Energy employees from our past were selected for this noteworthy achievement.”
They are:
Kay Bushman, Senior Counsel, DLA Energy Office of Counsel
Bushman spent three decades as a lawyer supporting the DLA Energy mission. She began her career in the Office of Counsel in 1985 as an assistant counsel and worked her way up to associate counsel in 1992. As a result of her leadership and management skills, Bushman was selected for a detail to a non-attorney position, serving as deputy director for the Fuels Accounting System Information Technology project from 1998 to 2001. She returned to the Office of Counsel in 2002 where she served another 14 years before retiring from DLA Energy in 2016.
Lawrence Ervin, Chief, DLA Energy Market Research
Ervin was part of the Market Research Office his entire career, working his way through the ranks to become chief, until his untimely passing in May 2006. During his 26-year tenure, he was the go-to economist among his peers. Subject matter experts at the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Energy compared their petroleum cost projections with his to ensure they prepared the most accurate forecasts for the Department of Defense and, in turn, the whole of federal government. Ervin will be honored posthumously.
Retired U.S. Army Col. Gregory D. Gibbons, Commander, Defense Fuel Region Middle East, Bahrain
Gibbons had a distinguished career in the petroleum community, playing an important role in the build-up of fuel and forces for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 and 1991. Gibbons was inducted into the U.S. Army Quartermaster Hall of Fame at Fort Lee, Virginia, in 2017.
Kathy Williams, DLA Energy Office of Small Business Programs
Williams served DLA Energy for more than 33 years playing an integral role in building the DLA Energy Office of Small Business Programs into a well-established support office. Williams’ efforts built a foundation that strengthened DLA Energy’s commitment to mission support through the capabilities of small business.
“Induction into the DLA Energy Hall of Fame acknowledges the vital role of employees in the current and long-term success of DLA Energy,” Miller said. “The Hall of Fame honors and preserves the performance of past employees for their exceptional service, dedication and contributions in support of the DLA Energy mission.”
