NORFOLK, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Virginia’s support to USNS Comfort load out and support to the COVID-19 Medical Mission is DDNV’s No. 1 priority.
DDNV started receiving material March 24, and received upward of 50 pallets from Cardinal Health freight, in addition to numerous pallets of food, consumables, etc. for USNS Comfort’s departure to New York City, New York.
Navy Capt. Thomas, “Tommy” Neville, commander, DDNV, expressed his appreciation to the workforce. “TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More! I can’t express how proud I am of my TEAM! What normally takes months of preparation, planning in execution the men and women of DLA Distribution Norfolk did in five days! I can’t say enough about the dedication, tireless effort and courage the DDNV workforce displayed while continuing to grind in a challenging environment and these anxious times. They were simply exceptional in answering the bell,” said Neville.
Working with just about every agency in the country, DDNV helped turn a 250 bed operation into a 1,000 bed operation before the USNS Comfort set sail en route to New York City.
“I’m proud to be a part of this wonderful TEAM and proud to be an American working hand and hand with all Americans to bring us together and win,” said Neville, finishing with, “Godspeed Comfort!”
